Brooks Laich and Fiancee Celebrate Derek Hough and Hayley's Pregnancy

Brooks Laich and Katrín Tanja Davíðsdóttir are already marking their calendars for future playdates between their daughter and Derek Hough and Hayley Erbert’s baby.

Laich, 42, and pregnant fiancée Davíðsdóttir, 32, celebrated the news that Hough, 40, and Erbert, 30, are expecting their first baby on Tuesday, July 22.

“LETS GOOOOOOOOO!!!!” Laich, who was married to Derek’s sister, Julianne Hough, from 2017 to 2022, commented on the couple’s announcement video on Instagram, adding a dozen heart eye emojis.

“I AM SMILING & CRYING & can’t stop watching!!” Davíðsdóttir added in her own comment. “This is the best news in the world. So happy for you & even more excited!!!!!!!!! Baby Hough is already so loved (& our baby girl says she can’t wait to play ).”

Derek and Erbert announced their pregnancy with a sweet video of the choreographer walking toward his wife in slow motion in their backyard, with both of them wearing coordinating white ensembles. As Derek and Erbert embraced each other, Erbert reached around her husband’s shoulder to reveal that she was holding a stack of ultrasound photos. The video was set to Alexander Jean’s song “So Small,” and the couple used the lyrics as their caption.

“We can’t believe the biggest thing to happen to us could be so small ,” the joint post read.

Derek and Erbert’s announcement came two months after Laich and Davíðsdóttir revealed that they are expecting their first child. The couple, who got engaged in December 2024, shared photos of themselves in matching jeans and white tops via Instagram, with Davíðsdóttir showing off her baby bump and posing with her ultrasound scans.

“Our greatest blessing Baby Laich coming this fall. Mom & Dad can’t wait to meet you, our little one!!!!!!” the caption read.

Erbert was among the friends and fans offering congratulations in the comments.

“No joke, I woke up this morning thinking about how excited I am to meet baby Laich!! Could not be more happy for you both!! ” she wrote.

Laich responded, “Baby Laich going to be a phenomenal dancer, just like mom and dad… .”

Meanwhile, Davíðsdóttir added, “love you Hayls.”

Julianne, 37, also sent love to her ex and his fiancée.

“Congratulations you two on expanding your family — this baby is already so loved ,” she wrote, to which Davíðsdóttir replied, “Awwee thank you Jules!!!! .”

Laich added, “Thanks Jules, cannot wait for this new adventure to begin!!! Much love!”

Us Weekly confirmed in February 2014 that Laich and Julianne had started dating. The pair got engaged in August 2015 and tied the knot in July 2017. However, they called it quits in July 2020 after three years of marriage. Their divorce was finalized in June 2022, one year after Laich and Davíðsdóttir went public with their romance.

Despite his marriage to Julianne coming to an end, Laich has remained close with his ex-wife and her family. He was even one of six groomsmen when Derek married Erbert in August 2023.

During an August 2024 appearance on the “Jamie Kern Lima Show,” Julianne said that her marriage to Laich was the “greatest thing that could have happened to me at that time of my life.”

“What I needed at that time was to reconnect with my 10-year-old self,” she said. “What did I need at 10? I really needed safety and almost, like, a father figure to come in and be that grounding force of stability.”

Hough added that Laich “provided such a beautiful foundation for me to be a little girl, and as that was the dynamic of our relationship, I was able to start that healing. When I started going through all that journey, I started being more of a woman.”
