Carnie Wilson and her family paid tribute to her late father, Brian Wilson, with a celebration of life on Wednesday, July 9.

“Yesterday we celebrated the full and beautiful life of my Father @brianwilsonlive,” the Wilson Phillips singer, 57, wrote via Instagram on Thursday, July 10. “It was painful, uplifting and peaceful all at the same time. In a previous Instagram post this week, Carnie revealed to her followers that the funeral would take place on Wednesday.

“Tomorrow is Daddy’s funeral,” she said in the video. “I can’t believe I’m even saying that. … We’ve done a very good job, the whole team, putting together a very beautiful service and reception and everything’s gonna be OK. We’re just gonna get through it. It’s gonna be difficult, painful, sad, beautiful, fun at the same time. We’re just gonna get through it. Thank you for your prayers. I love you all very much.”

Brian died on June 11 at age 82. “We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved father Brian Wilson has passed away,” his family wrote in a statement shared via Facebook at the time. “We are at a loss for words right now. Please respect our privacy at this time as our family is grieving. We realize that we are sharing our grief with the world. Love & Mercy.”

Two weeks later, a death certificate from the city of Los Angeles obtained by TMZ indicated that the Beach Boys cofounder died of natural causes after experiencing respiratory arrest.

Brian Wilson’s Family Reacts to Beach Boy’s Death

Last year, Brian’s family requested a conservatorship over his person in February 2024, revealing in court documents that he suffered from a “major neurocognitive disorder such as dementia.” They filed the motion to “ensure that all of [his] daily living needs [were satisfied] and he [had] the best possible care while remaining in his home.”

The family confirmed the news in a statement shared via social media at the time.

“Following the passing of Brian’s beloved wife, Melinda [Ledbetter], after careful consideration and consultation among Brian, his seven children, [housekeeper] Gloria Ramos and Brian’s doctors (and consistent with family processes put in place by Brian and Melinda), we are confirming that longtime Wilson family representatives LeeAnn Hard and Jean Sievers will serve as Brian’s co-conservators of the person,” the family explained.

Brian shared daughters Carnie and Wendy, 55, with first wife Marilyn Wilson, whom he divorced in 1979. He also adopted five children — Dakota, Daria, Delanie, Dylan and Dash — with Ledbetter, who died in January 2024 at age 77.
