Viral footage of Rachel Brosnahan kissing costar David Corenswet on the set of Superman has sparked a social media debate.
The behind-the-scenes footage was released by Warner Bros. to promote the movie and largely went unnoticed until Brosnahan’s husband, Jason Ralph, engaged with an Instagram comment that encouraged him to “leave [Brosnahan] to be with” Corenswet.
In the resurfaced clip, Brosnahan, 35, and Corenswet, 32, were filming an intimate scene as Lois Lane and Clark Kent in the summer blockbuster. Brosnahan appeared to give her costar a peck on the lips seconds after someone on set called “cut.”
Many were intrigued by the off-the-cuff moment, with a fan commenting via X: “That’s some spicy on-set chemistry.”

“She a little happy to be doing all that… That sparkle in her eye don’t look fake to me,” another person claimed.
Others offered a more practical explanation that Brosnahan may have already been in motion for the kiss before “cut” was called.
“People are so dramatic about that BTS scene,” one TikTok commenter insisted, with someone replying via X: “She’s in character. Actors are in character before and after each take. It’s art, so you wouldn’t understand.”
“There are so many people here who have no understanding of the concept of ‘reaction time,’” an X user argued. “She was committed to kissing him the 2nd time, in character, before cut was called. She was mentally already in the process, she wasn’t able to register AND act on the CUT in time.”

The Instagram comment read: “It’s genuinely sad to see your career being tucked out to be remembered as a cuckold because your wife couldn’t handle herself with her co-actor. Like bro.. let’s have some self love and stand up for yourself man, leave her to be with him if she wants that much at the end of the day.”
Ralph, 39, faced a backlash for interacting with the post at all, with a fan pointing out: “I think regardless whether he feels that way or was highlighting how absurd it is, there was no need to engage with it. It is disrespectful to Rachel and through interacting with it, fans are now speculating etc about it. Whether or not the bts [behind the scenes] is bad, I think he made it very public and supported a very negative comment about his wife.”

“It’s just not fair to either of them, i feel for both of them in this situation and i hope people stop commenting on it bc it’s none of our business to begin with. let them live their lives,” a TikTok commenter replied.
Some felt that Ralph’s actual intentions may have been misinterpreted by engaging with the post.
“I truly think this is him liking it because it’s absurd, not because he’s like….hurting deeply,” one commenter suggested, while someone else claimed: “I know David and his wife, and while I don’t know Jason and Rachel personally, this tracks with Jason’s social media vibe overall!”

In 2019, Brosnahan told People that the couple were reluctant to publicly discuss their relationship.
“I’ve been quite private about my personal life for a few reasons. The first being that it’s just that: personal,” she said. “Jason and I also noticed early on that, while we are both the leads of successful television series, he has almost never been asked about our relationship while I have been asked on almost every red carpet I have walked in the last two years. We both find this double standard problematic and frustrating and opted to redirect those conversations to our work.”
Corenswet and his wife, Julia Warner, welcomed their first child, a daughter, in 2024 after tying the knot a year earlier.
