How Candace Cameron Bure and Her Husband 'Stick Through' Challenges

Candace Cameron Bure is not afraid to keep it real when discussing the highs and lows of married life.

Before revealing on her own podcast that she previously went through a “rough season” with husband Valeri Bure, the Fuller House alum opened up to Us Weekly about overcoming challenges in her relationship.

“Communication’s the biggest one,” Cameron Bure, 49, exclusively shared with Us in November 2024. “And it’s trying to have honesty within the communication, but still be truthful in a loving way because truth hurts sometimes, but your spouse really should be there to help refine you.”

The actress argued that being open and honest with your partner is so important – even if the truth hurts.

“Sometimes, you just gotta stick through it and it just stinks for a season, but you’re like, ‘We can do this, we can do this,’ and that’s what we’ve managed to do,” she continued. “We have a lot of laughs and we have a lot of love for each other, and we genuinely enjoy being around each other.”

Cameron Bure and Bure, 51, tied the knot in 1996 and later welcomed three children: Natasha, 26, Lev, 25, and Maksim, 23.

Even as her kids get older, Cameron Bure remains strong in her belief that quality family time is important.

“I’m a workhorse. I love my work. I love what I do, and I do travel a lot,” she told Us. “But the pandemic really shifted a lot of that for our family. Once we were at home together for so long, I was like, ‘Oh, I’m missing out on more than I realize and my family’s so important to me.’ That’s really shifted and changed and it truly is a priority.”

During the Tuesday, July 8, episode of the “Candace Cameron Bure” podcast, the former Full House star invited Lev onto the show to discuss family milestones.

At one point in the episode, she revealed it was Lev who helped strengthen her marriage to Bure. The confession left Lev emotional.

“Even when my siblings and I talked about it, it was like, ‘Man, we want more than anything for our parents to be together.’ But, let’s get to the matter of fact, it’s only going to happen through Jesus,” Lev said during the episode. “That was all we could point them to. You had me emotional over here.”

Before they started to discuss other topics, Lev thanked his mom for opening up about the rough patch.

“We raised some pretty good kids,” Cameron Bure added when reflecting on her relationship with Bure.
