Love Island USA stars Taylor Smith and Carsten “Bergie” Bergersen are here to prove long-distance relationships are absolutely doable.
“As long as there is communication on both ends, that’s really what makes a long-distance relationship work,” Taylor, 24, exclusively shared with Us Weekly on Wednesday, August 20, when partnering with Simply Spiked. “I do feel like we do a pretty good job at communicating how we’re feeling. And open communication is definitely a key.”
According to Bergie, 25, his girlfriend tracks him on his cellphone — but it’s not in an overbearing, controlling way.
“It’s like, ‘Can I FaceTime him yet? Or do I wait?’ She always waits for me to get home,” Bergie shared with Us. “Right when I walk in the door, I’m getting a FaceTime call because she knows when I get home. We FaceTime every day for probably one to three hours, depending on the day.”

Taylor added with a laugh, “It’s not because I’m crazy. It’s because we’re long-distance.”

While Bergie is focused on physical therapy school, he has big plans once he graduates.
“Once PT school is done, we’re moving in together, and, you know, probably get married soon after,” he teased. “I don’t want to do long-distance for five years. We’re just making it work through PT school.”
When the pair are able to reunite in person, quality time together doesn’t have to be an extravagant event or trip. Instead, it’s all about making fun memories at home.
“I am such a homebody, you wouldn’t believe it,” Bergie revealed. “I love being at home. It’s one of my favorite vacations of all time. I love to just relax, maybe drink a Simply Spiked and just enjoy the day. Maybe watch some Star Wars and play some Xbox with Taylor.”

Taylor added, “Quality time together is basically we love just being home bodies —- either watching a Star Wars movie or playing Lego Star Wars on the Xbox or playing Split Fiction, or It Takes Two, or sometimes GTA and shoot up some cities in the game, but definitely a nice cocktail on a Friday night, preferably Simply Spiked.”
With their second anniversary approaching on Sunday, August 24, the pair are planning a nice steak dinner before coming back home and playing some Xbox.
They also are hoping to help some singles find love before summer comes to an official end.
In partnership with pool rental platform Swimply, Simply Spiked is launching the Simply Spiked Tropical x Swimply Dating Pool.

Single men and women can register for a spot online now in hopes of finding love just like Taylor and Bergie.
“We’re excited for the event,” Taylor shared with Us. “It’s going to be fun to watch people get their flirt on and mix and mingle.”
