Maria Shriver made a rare comment about her son Patrick Schwarzenegger’s brief romance with Miley Cyrus — and whether she keeps in touch with the singer.
“Did you ever do that with any of your kids’ exes? Keep in touch with them?” Jenna Bush Hager asked Shriver, 69, who was her guest host for the Thursday, June 26, episode of Today With Jenna & Friends.
Shriver, who shares sons Patrick, 31, and Christopher, 27, and daughters Katherine, 35, and Christina, 33, with ex-husband Arnold Schwarzenegger, couldn’t recall being caught in that dilemma.
“No, no, I’m trying to think, no,” Shrived replied. Bush Hager, 43, then cheekily asked, “No Miley Cyrus?” referring to Patrick’s romance with the Grammy winner, 32, in the mid-2000s.

Shriver laughed, revealing, “I would be very happy to see Miley. I liked Miley. I’d be happy to see her.” She then pointed out, “But I did not stay texting [her], no I didn’t.”
Patrick was linked to Cyrus in November 2014 after the pair were spotted kissing at a University of Southern California football game. At the time, Patrick was attending the university in Los Angeles and both he and Cyrus were 21 years old.

Patrick and Cyrus were spotted spending time together in Miami in December 2014 before he brought her on a ski trip to Idaho with his friends and father that same month.
The twosome continued their romance into the new year but hit a snag in March 2015 when Patrick was spotted getting cozy on spring break with another woman. Patrick denied the cheating allegations via social media, claiming, “I would NEVER do anything against my GF.”

Us Weekly confirmed in April 2015 that Cyrus and Patrick were taking a break, with a source telling Us, “The scandal did its damage” but the couple were “trying to make it work.”
Despite a brief reconciliation, Us later confirmed that the Hannah Montana alum and Patrick had called it quits for good before the end of April 2015.

“The best [about her] was that she’s a wonderful, wonderful girl and human being. Very, very talented,” Arnold said of Cyrus on the Monday, June 23, broadcast. “She came up to Sun Valley when we were skiing up there and she was just such a wonderful houseguest and everything like that.”

The Kindergarten Cop actor added, “We just all loved her.” While Patrick’s parents are both still fond of Cyrus, the former couple have both moved on romantically.
Following her split from Patrick, Cyrus rekindled her relationship with Liam Hemsworth and the pair tied the knot in December 2018. The pair, who had been dating on and off since 2010, divorced in August 2019. Cyrus has been musician Maxx Morando since fall 2021.
Patrick, meanwhile, began seeing model Abby Champion in spring 2016. The couple got engaged in December 2023.
