Jennifer Aniston Confirms She and Gwyneth Discuss Ex Brad Pitt

Jennifer Aniston and Gwyneth Paltrow are just like Us — they gossip about their mutual exes.

“Ironically, I went to [Gwyneth] and Brad’s engagement party,” Aniston, 56, recalled in a Vanity Fair profile, published on Monday, August 11, when discussing her inner circle with the magazine. She noted that “of course” the two women have discussed their respective relationships with Pitt, 61.

“How can we not?” Aniston said. “We’re girls.”

Paltrow met Pitt first after they starred together in David Fincher’s 1995 horror movie Se7en. The former couple were engaged by 1996 and split the following year before ever making it down the aisle. During a 2023 appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, Paltrow recalled being “totally heartbroken” after the breakup.

“It was the right thing at that time, but it was really hard,” she said at the time. “There were a number of things that had happened, he was nine years older than me — he knew what he wanted, he was ready to do it and I was kind of all over the place.”

Pitt and Aniston, meanwhile, kicked off their whirlwind romance in 1998 after they were set up by their agents. By November 1999, Pitt had proposed, and the former couple exchanged vows in July 2000. They were divorced by October 2005.

A recently published book about Paltrow’s life alleged that the Goop founder was “sad” upon hearing that Pitt and Aniston were getting married. An excerpt from author Amy Odell’s Gwyneth: The Biography (out now), which was published by Us Weekly last month, alleged that Paltrow called a reporter “very gossipy” in 2000 after being asked a question about Pitt and Aniston at the Toronto Film Festival.

“The reporter then asked how she felt about Brad Pitt marrying Jennifer Aniston [in July of that year]. ‘Are you really asking me this question?’ Gwyneth replied,” the book read, claiming that Paltrow’s eyes shot “daggers” at the reporter.

Elsewhere in Odell’s book, she alleged that Paltrow told friends that Pitt “has terrible taste in women.” Paltrow also allegedly took shots at her ex during a 2000 business meeting with Estee Lauder heiress Aerin Lauder.

“At one dinner, the two were talking about Brad Pitt,” Odell’s book claimed. “According to someone familiar with the discussion, Gwyneth allegedly told her, ‘He’s dumber than a sack of s***.’”

Things between Aniston and Paltrow have been fine over the years. When their gossip session about Pitt is over, Aniston said in the same Vanity Fair profile that she and Paltrow are more inclined to discuss their wellness habits.

“We’re always swapping advice,” Aniston said. “‘What are you doing for this? What are you doing for that? Do you have a new doctor for that?’”
