Jessica Alba Dishes on Summer With Kids and Her New Chapter Amid Divorce

Jessica Alba is opening up about motherhood amid her divorce from Cash Warren.

The actress, 44, shared new details about spending the summer with her kids, Honor, 17, Haven, 13, and Hayes, 7, while promoting her home improvement show, Honest Renovations.

“Summer is our favorite time because they’re in school all year, obviously … It’s when we really get to hunker in with our kids, and I feel like they all always go through growth spurts in the summer,” she told Extra during a Monday, August 11 interview. “I’m like, ‘Wait, you are not this shoe size and now you’re in a completely, like, a size and a half up. Like, how is this possible?’ My daughters both raid my closets on the reg[ular].”

She continued, “They used to be like, ‘You dress like a mom. I don’t like those clothes,’ and I’m like, ‘Whatever,’ and now they’re only wearing my clothes. I’m like, ‘Where is my sweatshirt? Where are my pajamas?’”

Alba said that she came up with a great hack to help encourage her kids to return her clothes after they wear them.

“I put labels on all of my clothes, so they can’t even lie about it anymore,” she noted. “They steal my stuff all the time! It drives me nuts.”

Alba added, “It’s just that they don’t return it, and that’s what gets me. I’m like, just return it. Just put it back or just put it in my hamper versus your hamper, because then I see it on their friend! … And then I feel bad being like, ‘Take that off.’ I can’t tell my kid’s friend to take my sweater off or my sweatshirt.”

Alba said that her kids “like to hang out” in her trailer and “eat snacks” when they join her on the set of Honest Renovations.

It’s no secret that Alba has recently entered a new chapter of her life after splitting from Warren, 46. Elsewhere in the interview, she reflected on her fresh start while still prioritizing her children.

“I think everybody can relate to — you try to plan so much, especially as a mom, you’re always trying to plan, plan and control things,” she said about her new journey. “And I think you just realize, especially as time goes by, that what’s meant for you is actually what’s going to show up and what’s going to happen.”

Alba advised, “As much as we try to control and plan everything, sometimes, you just have to let life happen and just enjoy yourself and things will fall into place. Trust the process.”

The L.A.’s Finest alum previously announced her split from Warren in a post shared via Instagram in January.

“I’ve been on a journey of self realization and transformation for years – both as an individual and in partnership with Cash,” she wrote. “I’m proud of how we’ve grown as a couple and in our marriage over the last 20 years and it’s now time for us to embark on a new chapter of growth and evolution as individuals.”

Alba continued, “We are moving forward with love and kindness and respect for each other and will forever be family. Our children remain our highest priority and we request privacy at this time.” (Alba filed for divorce from Warren in February.)

Currently, she is dating Top Gun: Maverick actor Danny Ramirez. The pair were first spotted out together in July returning to L.A. after a trip to Cancún, Mexico, and have had several PDA-filled outings since.
