Jessica Simpson is back on the red carpet — and bringing star power to the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards.
The singer, 45, flashed some serious skin in a dramatic black dress with layered and ruched tulle fabric upon her arrival at the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York on Sunday, September 7, before taking the stage to serve as a presenter for the event.
Known for her bold style, Simpson lived up to her reputation and didn’t disappoint in the fashion department, accessorizing with sky-high pumps, sparkling chain-link silver earrings and styling her hair in a chic tousled ponytail.
Fans were overjoyed after MTV unveiled some of the celebrities set to present at this year’s VMAs on Tuesday, September 2, including Jessica, as well as her sister, Ashlee Simpson.

,” one fan commented on her Instagram post announcing her appearance. “So excited to see your outfit,” another echoed.
Jessica celebrated her triumphant return to music back in March by performing live on TV for the first time in 15 years at the Recording Academy’s Austin Chapter Block Party during SXSW in Austin, Texas.
“It was an emotional coming back home to the best part of myself. Thank you for embracing me,” she gushed in her caption. “You know that I have so much to say, but this lucky voice gets to soar again tonight. I love y’all.”

The chart-topping songstress hit the stage again in May for the season 23 finale of American Idol, later revealing that she was on edge leading up to her performance.
“Oh, my God, I was dying. I can’t even tell you how long it’s been since I’ve been that nervous,” she told Extra.
“I just kept telling myself, ‘Do not cry. Do not cry. I know this is a big moment… do not cry.’ And then I see my dad, like, up in the corner and I’m like, ‘Ah, I’m going to cry. I’m going to cry. Do not cry,’” Jessica continued, noting she tried to focus on just singing her songs.
Jessica released her new album, Nashville Canyon, Pt. 1, on March 21 in the wake of her split from husband Eric Johnson, with whom she shares kids Maxwell, 13, Ace, 12, and Birdie, 6.

The exes ignited rumors they were back on after being spotted boarding a flight together to Las Vegas, Nevada, on August 29, before going to the first show of Ashlee’s residency at Voltaire at The Venetian Resort.
However, despite their recent reunion, a source exclusively told Us Weekly on Wednesday, September 3, that the exes “are not getting back together or reconciling” ahead of her latest release.
