Jim Bob Duggar Makes Rare Cameo in Daughter Jessa's Birth Vlog

Jim Bob Duggar and his wife, Michelle Duggar, got to meet their 39th grandchild shortly after his birth.

Jim Bob and Michelle’s daughter Jessa Duggar recently gave birth to her sixth baby, another son, in late July. She shared the news of her little one’s arrival in early August in a series of YouTube videos.

“No. 39,” Jim Bob, 60, said in footage shared via YouTube on Friday, August 8, holding his newest grandson. “He’s a keeper. How much did he weigh?”

Jessa, 32, then told her father that her son — whose name she has yet to publicly share — weighed “10 pounds even.”

“You know I said 9.15,” Jim Bob responded. “That’s what I guessed.”

According to Jessa, her mom also speculated that the infant would weigh around nine pounds.

“So, the doctor said, ‘I think that’s a 10-pounder. That’s one of the biggest babies I’ve delivered,’” Jessa’s husband, Ben Seewald, told his father-in-law in the clip.

Michelle, 58, was also in the room when Jessa gave birth.

“This was a beautiful moment, and we’re so thankful,” the Counting On alum said in a YouTube video uploaded earlier this week. “Seven and a half hours of labor, and praise the Lord, everything went so smoothly. It was a beautiful experience in the end.”

Jessa continued, “My mom is absolutely wonderful. She was there every step of the way, helping me, supporting me, coaching me. I had a wonderful birth team.”

Jessa is one of Jim Bob and Michelle’s 19 children. She married Seewald, 30, in 2014 before they started expanding their own family. They also share sons Spurgeon, 9, Henry, 8, and George, 18 months, as well as daughters Fern, 5, and Ivy, 3.

Michelle is almost always a staple in the delivery room, supporting her daughters.

“I think that she’s only missed two, but each of ours she’s been there,” Jessa’s sister Jinger Duggar said on an April episode of her podcast. “[My son] Finn is grandbaby No. 37 for my parents, and that is insane to think about.”

Jinger, 31, and husband Jeremy Vuolo live in Los Angeles with their three children. Michelle had recently traveled across the country from Arkansas when Jinger gave birth to son Finn in March.

“She came a week before, she stayed a week and a half after, and she’s fully committed,” Vuolo, 37, said at the time. “So she comes and serves. She’s, like, taking everything off of your plate every morning. I mean, she wakes up before any of us. It’s really sweet.”
