John Cena wished he had gotten his hair transplant even earlier.
Cena, 48, opened up about his hair thinning with age while chatting with People in a cover story published on Wednesday, August 6. While opening up about aging, Cena admitted that he tried to “hide [his] hair loss” at first, but WWE fans kept “bringing it to light.”
“I saw their signs that said ‘The bald John Cena,’” the actor recalled. He explained that trolls were the ones who “pushed” him to see what his options were to help thicken his hair.
“I now have a routine: red-light therapy, minoxidil, vitamins, shampoo, conditioner — and I also got a hair transplant last November,” he said. “I hate the fact that if there wasn’t so much shame around it, I’d have gotten it done 10 years ago. I thought I was alone, but seven or eight out of 10 [men] suffer from thinning or baldness.”

After undergoing the procedure, Cena couldn’t be happier about his results. “They don’t do anything except move your hair, one by one, from one area to another,” he explained, noting that he still feels “fired up” about the topic.
“If somebody’s going to sweat me for that, I don’t think there’s any shame in that,” he added. “It completely changed the course of my life.”

Cena also explained that with his new ‘do, he was able to find even more acting roles. “A different hairstyle can identify a part that can get me more work, do the thing I love to do.”
In April, Cena first shared that he got a hair transplant after WWE watchers were “bullying” him.

“You chant and you make me feel small and you embarrass me,” he said during an episode of the Pat McAfee show. “Y’all don’t know what that’s like. That is straight-up bullying. That’s just not cool. I don’t like it.”
He sarcastically continued, “And you guys, by the way, thank you for being so aware of my needs and emotions, because you guys ripped me to shreds for a genetic problem that I can’t control.”
