Kailyn Lowry Felt Like She and Elijah Were Married Before Apparent Split

Kailyn Lowry didn’t need a marriage certificate to feel like she had tied the knot with Elijah Scott before their apparent split.

“I felt like I was married to Elijah, and I … I don’t know, now hear me out, because I also feel like there, it was a different sort of closeness,” Lowry, 33, said on the July 17 episode of her and Lindsie Chrisley’s “Coffee Convos” podcast. “Like it was, I don’t want to say codependence because I don’t think that’s what it was.”

The Teen Mom 2 alum added that she and Scott “got to know each other” in a way that she never did in her past relationships.

“My other relationships never … we never were like that. So if it’s not like that, I don’t want it at all,” she said.

Chrisley, 35, agreed, saying, “It’s kind of like you get so used to someone’s habits and the things that they do, and like, you bring to the table collectively, that once that’s gone, it’s really hard to like see past that.”

Lowry shares son Rio, 2, and twins Verse and Valley, 21 months, with Scott. She previously welcomed son Elliott, 15, with high school boyfriend Jo Rivera, and Lincoln, 11, with ex-husband Javi Marroquin. Lowry and Marroquin, 32, divorced in 2016, and she moved on with ex Chris Lopez. The pair welcomed sons Lux, 7, and Creed, 4, before their split in 2020.

Lowry seemingly confirmed that she and Scott had called off their engagement during her June 25 appearance on Lala Kent’s “Give Them Lala” podcast.

“I get a lot of s*** for leaving my kids’ dads,” she said. “I left all of them because I, to some degree, take no s***.”

Elsewhere in the conversation, Lowry seemingly hinted that she wasn’t living with Scott, but shared that he was staying nearby.

“There are a lot of unique circumstances in our family because I do have four fathers to my children,” she said. “I’m neighbors with one of them … Elijah.”

Lowry first confirmed her romance with Scott via Instagram in April 2022. The pair welcomed Rio later that year, with the MTV personality confirming the news in October 2023. Weeks later, she announced that they were expecting twins.

Lowry also opened up about their engagement plans in November 2023, telling People that Scott had been “pushing” for them to take the next step in their relationship.

“But I’ve already kind of done marriage once and I f***ed it up royally. So I’m a little hesitant,” she explained, adding that they “jumped right into parenthood together.”

“I kind of would like to have something to look forward to in the future instead of doing everything all at once,” she continued. “I think we have time. If we’re meant to be together, then we don’t need to rush into it tomorrow.”

Despite her hesitation, Lowry and Scott did take the next step, with the reality star confirming their engagement in August 2024.

“He came into the bathroom one day while I was getting ready, and he gave me the ring,” she recalled on “Coffee Convos” at the time. “I was like, ‘Oh my God, thank you!’”
