Kelly Clarkson has returned to Instagram more than one week after ex-husband Brandon Blackstock’s death.

Clarkson, 43, took to her Instagram Story on Tuesday, August 19, to share a promotional poster for the premiere of her new four-part series, Songs & Stories With Kelly Clarkson, featuring the Jonas Brothers.

“Tonight’s the night 🙌,” she wrote over the post, which was originally shared by NBC.

This was Clarkson’s first post on social media since Blackstock’s death at 48 years old on August 7.

“It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away. Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family,” a rep for his family told Us Weekly in a statement. “We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.”

His cause of death was melanoma, a form of skin cancer, and the manner of his death was natural causes, Silver Bow County Coroner Dan Hollis told Us on August 11.

“Brandon Blackstock passed away peacefully at his home in Butte, Montana, on August 7th under hospice care surrounded by his family,” Hollis said in a statement.

One day before Blackstock’s death, Clarkson — who was married to the talent manager from 2013 to 2022 and shared daughter River, 11, and son Remy, 9, with him — took to Instagram to announce that she would be postponing the remaining August dates of her Las Vegas Studio Sessions residency.

“While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them. I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding,” she wrote.

Tuesday’s premiere of Songs & Stories, which was reportedly filmed earlier this summer, marked Clarkson’s first television appearance since her ex-husband’s death. The episode saw her sit down with Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonas to hear how their greatest hits were written and sing acoustic versions of a few tracks. Future episodes will feature Gloria Estefan, Teddy Swims and Lizzo.

In addition to Songs & Stories, Clarkson is still slated to return to her talk show this fall, Deadline reported on Tuesday.

The “Breakaway” singer also reportedly resumed filming The Voice season 29, slated to air in spring 2026, after taking a brief hiatus following Blackstock’s death. Former The Voice coach Jennifer Hudson stepped in for a shoot while Clarkson was away, according to the outlet.

The Voice host Carson Daly exclusively told Us on Monday, August 18, that the cast and crew have been mourning Blackstock’s death.

“It’s been tough,” he told Us at the opening night of Broadway’s Jeff Ross: Take a Banana for the Ride in New York City. “We all knew Brandon well, and we are a family.”

As for how they’ve been supporting Clarkson and coach Reba McEntire — who was Blackstock’s stepmother during her marriage to his father, Narvel Blackstock — Daly, 52, said, “I was working with [Reba] last week, everything was fresh, so we’ve just been sending our prayers and support to them. It’s a terrible situation.”

He continued, “It’s really no different than what you would do for your family members. You let them know you’re there, you’re praying for them [and] you’re giving them space at the same time.”
