Kim Zolciak Reunites With Mom 13 Years After Dramatic Wedding Exit

Kim Zolciak-Biermann appears to have buried the hatchet with her mom, Karen Zolciak.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta star, 47, shared a series of photos via Instagram Saturday, July 19, and one jumped out in particular for fans who recall the family drama: the second in the carousel, which showed a smiling Kim posing with Karen and her dad, Joe Zolciak.

“My last few months forever grateful,” Kim captioned the post alongside a red heart and prayer hand emoji. “I moved into my new house! I’ve had a couple trips to the beach. Two of the shows I filmed premiered,” she continued in reference to Hulu’s Got to Get Out and E’s Plastic Surgery Rewind.

“My twins graduated 5th grade!!” Kim added. “Can’t believe I’ll have 3 in Middle School and Kj in High School.”

Kim also shared that she’s recently “spent time with friends” and “spent time with my family.”

“I’m forever grateful for each and every day. So many exciting things happening and I can’t wait to share with you. RIP @chanjharrell Their are no words to describe how much we miss and love you,” she concluded.

Drama unfolded at Kim’s 2011 wedding to ex-husband Kroy Biermann after Karen and Kroy, 39, got into a huge argument over whether or not she could use a private restroom in the Biermann home instead of the rented porta-potties on site.

Kim and Karen’s relationship has always been rocky, and at the time of the wedding, Kim and her stylist, Shun Melson, were filmed discussing whether or not Karen would even attend.

On a December 2017 episode of the short-lived Bravo reality series Don’t Be Tardy, Kim promised she would never speak to her mother again. The episode began with a dramatic phone call between Kim’s daughter Brielle Biermann and Karen after the then 20-year-old attempted to make plans to see her grandparents for the first time in more than five years only to be told, “It’s just not gonna work,” by Karen.

That prompted a reaction from Kim. “I’m not surprised she answered my dad’s phone. … She’s like super controlling, always has been. … She’s got his hands cuffed,” she said of her mother.

Later in the same episode, Kim revealed her mother also didn’t have an appropriate response after her son Kash was hospitalized following a dog bite. “My mom texted me when this s*** happened with Kash. … My mom knows where I live. You could have sent a card.” she explained.

Kim then vowed, “I will not let her back into my life, let’s just be clear.”
