Jay Cohen is reflecting on the support he’s received from his inner circle after the death of girlfriend Michelle Trachtenberg.

Cohen shared his first comments about the late actress via Instagram on Wednesday, July 9, after marking a milestone anniversary for his health. When asked if he could “talk” about Trachtenberg, Cohen replied, “One day soon! Im very sorry 💔.”

After another user pointed out that it was “not cool” to ask Cohen about his late girlfriend, he added, “Thank you, it’s OK comes from the right place. Michelle was loved by so many.”

The comments were left alongside a lengthy message Cohen wrote marking 26 years since he received a life-saving kidney transplant from a “selfless” donor. “We as human beings need to find a way to love and help all people in need,” he wrote. “The divide must stop. Innocent lives should not be part of status quo war casualties, or politics, all people deserve the right to live In Peace.”

Cohen gave his appreciation to another doctor at Cedars Sinai hospital in Los Angeles, calling them “true super heroes, people who live their lives with purpose, intention, selflessness and with empathy!! “

“As always, I’m still in the gym keeping my mind and body in shape, healthy and calm. Yes I’ve added some very personal tattoos, when I look in the mirror as I wake and get ready for bed I remind myself of who I am, who I need to be and why I am,” he wrote. “An extremely important rule in my life, never do anything that I will not want to see when I look in the mirror and ask myself was I true today.”

Cohen continued, “I am so grateful to all of you who are in my life sharing our common joys , helping me with tragedies and healing from pain and grief. I’m sure many of you know what I mean when I write that.”

Cohen encouraged his followers to remember that “life and aging are humbling” and to “live life with empathy,” concluding, “Believe in love, believe in faith and spirituality, care about others!”

Her death was ultimately ruled to be natural.

Before Trachtenberg’s death, sources confirmed to Us in 2020 that she and Cohen had been dating for “over a year.” Trachtenberg shared a since-deleted picture of her sporting a diamond ring at the time, alongside the caption, “I picked the right one 😜⚡💍.” The pair never publicly addressed whether they were engaged.

“She was still together with her boyfriend, whom she spoke of highly and lovingly,” a source exclusively told Us after her death in February. “They seemed to have a wonderful relationship.”
