Nicki Minaj got real about how difficult it is to recreate the balancing pose she did in 2013 that has since become the basis for the viral stiletto challenge.
Minaj, 42, took to Instagram on Wednesday, August 6, to see if she still can balance in her stiletto heels while squatting down. In the Reel, she first gave fans a glimpse of her glam, which featured filled-in eyebrows, dewy skin, highlighted cheeks, winged eyeliner and pink-lined lips.
Starting off easy, the rapper attempted to squat on the ground in a black Chanel bodycon dress but quickly realized it was too short. She adjusted herself in her neon platform stiletto heels while holding onto a fence behind her.
Minaj then decided to be even riskier and moved to a pool where she tried to balance on one foot near the edge. She kicked her heel out while holding onto a pole but quickly put her foot back down in order not to fall.
Nicki Minaj’s Most Extravagant Fashion Moments of All Time
The singer tried one last time to master the pose while supporting herself against a wooden wall. Minaj led back against it before falling out of the position.

“Dear Barbz, about that pose…. Ummm ,” she captioned the post. “This Chanel dress was just a tad shorter than I thought & the thongs definitely didn’t help. Didn’t want to make it explicit.
.”

Minaj promised her fans that she’d attempt the pose again in a less revealing outfit, writing, “Both feet on the ground tho. Ten toes. Ima put on a diff outfit that won’t show so much skin & do it again for you guys later. love
.”

The rapper first struck the pose in 2013 when she did it in her music video for “High School.” In the video, she balanced in extra-high heels by a pool. Social media users have recently resurfaced the moment, sharing their (occasionally disastrous) attempts at it via TikTok and Instagram.
