Pete Davidson Reveals the 'Best' Parenting Advice From Costar Eddie Murphy

Pete Davidson got some memorable parenting advice from fellow comedian Eddie Murphy as he gears up to welcome his first baby.

“His advice was the best. He goes, ‘I have no advice,’” Davidson, 31, told Extra in an interview published on Sunday, July 27.

Davidson stars alongside Murphy — a father of 10 — in the upcoming movie The Pickup, set to premiere next month.

“He goes, ‘Because you can’t really tell anybody how to raise their own kid. But it’s going to change your life and you’re going to love it, and I’ll know you’ll be good at it,’” Davidson added.

Davidson’s girlfriend, Elsie Hewitt, announced earlier this month that she is pregnant with their first child. “Welp now everyone knows we had sex,” she joked via Instagram at the time, alongside photos that showed a sonogram.

“I mean, it’s the most exciting thing ever. I don’t even really have words,” Davidson gushed about fatherhood during Sunday’s interview. “I’m just so excited about it, and I just can’t wait for it. … I feel like I’m finally in a place where I’m ready for it.”

He added, “I’m not a parent yet, but I feel like I’m the best I could be now, you know? I’m glad it’s happening now, for sure.”

Shortly after Hewitt’s pregnancy announcement, a source told Us Weekly that Davidson is “excited about this next chapter” of parenthood.

Us confirmed Davidson’s relationship with Hewitt, 29, in March after they were spotted out together on multiple occasions. Earlier this month, Davidson called Hewitt “one of my favorite people to ever exist, ever.”

“She’s going to be a great mom, and I’m just stoked,” he told Entertainment Tonight before referring to his late father, firefighter Scott Davidson, who died on September 11, 2001. “I hope to be … you know, the dad I hoped that I would have.”

A separate source told Us that Davidson and Hewitt had no plans to have a baby when she got pregnant.

“Pete and Elsie definitely weren’t planning on starting a family but are over the moon about it. They are so excited,” the insider shared. “Pete and Elsie have a really playful relationship, and things are going really well.”

The couple have only been together for a “short amount of time,” but they are “inseparable,” the source continued.

“This has brought them even closer. It’s a healthy relationship for Pete,” the same insider continued. “Pete has always wanted to be a dad and thinks the timing in his life is perfect. He couldn’t have done it a few years ago but is in a very different place in life now.”
