Reneé Rapp is not disclosing the real reason for her departure from Sex Lives of College Girls.

“Explain to me,” Alex Cooper asked Rapp, 25, during the “Call Her Daddy” episode released on Wednesday, August 6. “What happened? Why did you depart?”

Rapp had a big smile on her face when answering the question.

“It was just so fun,” she said in an answer laced with sarcasm. “Like, it was so fun. It was awesome.”

Cooper, 30, asked Rapp what her “last straw” was — but the singer wouldn’t give in.

“It was just so fun,” Rapp repeated. Cooper then asked, “Did you sign an NDA?”

Rapp replied, “I’ve signed many, bro.”

A serious answer was given when Rapp was asked how her Sex Lives of College Girls costars took the news about her leaving.

“I think [they were] totally fine,” Rapp recalled. “Sometimes you just know. Also, nothing on a set is ever a secret. At least, it’s really hard to do that. I was the last one finding out about things. So, I don’t really think anybody cared, to be honest. I’m sure somebody did, but I don’t care.”

Cooper then asked about one lyric in Rapp’s new song “Leave Me Alone” that alludes to her past on the HBO Max series.

“Sign a hundred NDAs, but I still say something / Leave me alone, bitch, I wanna have fun,” she sings. “I took my sex life with me, now the show ain’t f***ing.”

Cooper wondered whether anyone “tried to stop” Rapp from including that line in the song, which appears on her second album, Bite Me.

How ‘Sex Lives of College Girls’ Set Up Renee Rapp’s Season 3 Exit

“No. God forbid I use wordplay,” Rapp said. “Similar to all the bulls***, what am I to do if not make music that is genuinely reflective of my life? It just is.”

Rapp played the role of Leighton for two seasons on Sex Lives of College Girls before announcing her exit from the show. (She briefly appeared on the third season before leaving for good.)

College Girls moved me out to LA and introduced me to some of my favorite people. 2 and a half years later — it’s give me y’all and this community,” Rapp said in her July 2023 statement. “A lot of queer work gets belittled — but playing Leighton has changed my life.”

She added, “I love who I am 10x more than I did before knowing her. I hope she gave y’all a little bit of that too. She’s such a tiny part of the representation but even the tiny parts count.”

Sex Lives of College Girls was canceled in March after three seasons.
