Robby Soave’s ex-wife, Carrie Soave, is addressing his recent engagement to Jie Jung Shih.
“I don’t know why this conversation is occurring, because it isn’t important,” Carrie said in a statement to The Daily Mail on Tuesday, July 29. “This only registered in my life to the extent that people in it, who were there for me through my divorce, did not want to see me hurt by anything further with regard to that situation.”
She continued, “For me, the saddest part about this story is that the conversation surrounding it was very hurtful to a lot of people who had nothing to do with it. For that pain, I am very sorry. I firmly believe that people should be defined by their actions and how they regard others and not by sexual preference.”
Carrie noted that she’s “not as well-known” as Robby, who’s a host of The Hill’s show Rising, but not that she doesn’t “need to be.”

“I know exactly who I am and what I am and am not,” she wrote. “I am not someone who needs attention and external validation to prove that I am important. ‘Am I loved’ is a question that I stopped asking myself a long time ago and I think that says a lot about the life I have now. The love I have in my life is very real, and the things in it are very fulfilling. I don’t ever wonder whether I matter because that is clear to me every day.”
Carrie added that “hurt is real” but “so is healing.” She noted that “divorce is a difficult thing” but doesn’t have to be “devastating when you have love and strength behind you.”
“Moving on with my life came with a lot of clarity about myself and I only wish the same for anyone going through it,” she concluded. “I am happy that that chapter in my life is closed and I’m enjoying the new one I’m in. I don’t need anything else from the world because I already have the people and the things I need to feel whole. For me, that is a true blessing.”
Robby, 36, announced on July 21 that he and his partner got engaged while traveling in Italy. Robby also shared a photo of him leaning in to smile for a selfie with his fiancé, Jie, who flashed his ring at the camera.

“Some personal news from my Sicily trip earlier this month, in case anyone missed it: I got engaged!” Robby wrote via X.
Carrie and Robby’s divorce was finalized last year, the outlet reported. The pair were together for nearly a decade before their split.
