Olympian Ryan Lochte worked out a deal with his landlord to avoid being kicked out of his Florida home amid his bitter divorce, Us Weekly can exclusively report.

On Wednesday, September 3, Lochte, 41, and the landlord informed the court of their agreement. Per the deal, the athlete will pay a total of $7,059, which consists of rent and other fees due, including rent for September in the amount of $6,100.

The first payment of $3,959.25 was due on Friday, September 5, with the rest due at a later date. Lochte agreed not to be late on his rent again for at least the rest of his lease, which expires in February 2026.

Lochte agreed to vacate the unit unless he signs a new lease. If he doesn’t pay the unpaid fees, the landlord will be entitled to additional rent and late charges plus another $690 in fees.

The landlord filed the lawsuit on August 19, demanding Lochte be evicted. Lochte rented the four-bedroom, three-bathroom, 1,936 square foot home in Newberry, Florida, in May for $3,000 a month.

The lawsuit accused Lochte of failing to pay rent for August and demanded possession of the unit. Lochte sent a handwritten note to the court days later, saying, “I’ve been out of town for business. Came home and eviction notice was on my door. So paying the rent. Thank you. Ryan Lochte.”

As Us first reported, Ryan’s estranged wife, Kayla Lochte, made shocking allegations in their pending divorce on August 21. Kayla demanded sole custody of their three kids — Caiden, 8, Liv, 6, and Georgia, 2 — due to Ryan’s alleged substance abuse issues.

“Shared parental responsibility would be detrimental to the children because [Ryan] has a history of substance abuse and, upon information and belief, he is still abusing illegal controlled substances,” Kayla told the court. She claimed to have found empty baggies of cocaine around the home (left by Ryan), including in their children’s bedroom.

Kayla further alleged she caught Ryan inhaling nitrous oxide in front of one of their children in the garage. She also claimed he drove them around intoxicated and failed two recent drug tests.

In a statement to Us, Ryan admitted to using drugs in the home but denied ever using them around the children. He also denied that he drove the kids while intoxicated and claimed he had been sober for over 50 days.

Ryan told Us he fell into a “cycle of depression” after his 2023 car accident, which left him with a broken leg.

“I am not denying that I used drugs in my home, but I adamantly deny ever using drugs in front of or around my children, and I have never driven them while intoxicated,” Ryan told Us. “I have tried desperately to keep these divorce proceedings private and sealed, not to protect myself, but to protect my children from fabricated allegations that could hurt them. Unfortunately, despite that effort, my ex-wife chose to make this matter public, knowing I was already in intensive rehab.”

“We all make mistakes in life. We are not defined by those mistakes, but by how we learn from them and the work we put in to overcome them. I am extremely sorry for hurting or disappointing anyone along the way,” he continued. “My focus now is on my recovery, on being the best father I can be and on moving forward in a way that keeps my kids safe, supported and loved.”

The judge has yet to rule on Kayla’s request.
