The Summer I Turned Pretty fans caught what appeared to be an editing error in a key scene between Belly and Jeremiah.
During the August 13 episode of the hit Prime Video series, Belly (Lola Tung) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) wake up together at his dad’s apartment. The couple slept on an air mattress with their clothes thrown around next to them, which is when eagle-eyed viewers noticed Belly’s dress being slowly dragged off camera.
“Wait…what? WHY IS THE DRESS CRAWLING AWAY,” read the caption of a clip shared via TikTok. Another fan replied, “Had to rewind and watch three times to make sure I wasn’t seeing things.”
Some of the responses joked that the dress was “Team Conrad” amid Belly’s conflicting feelings for Jeremiah and his brother (Chris Briney).
What 'Summer I Turned Pretty' Cast Teased About Love Triangle Outcome
“It’s the ghost of Susannah trying to tell Belly she shouldn’t marry Jere,” read another comment about Jeremiah and Conrad’s late mother (Rachel Blanchard).
Others, however, pointed out that it was likely an issue off screen, writing, “All I can imagine is a cameraman’s foot stuck and they’re just nonchalantly trying to move away before they get on screen.”
Based on Jenny Han‘s book series of the same name, The Summer I Turned Pretty follows Belly as she is caught in a love triangle between Conrad and Jeremiah. In addition to the main trio, viewers have also learned more about Belly’s brother, Steven (Sean Kaufman), mom Laurel (Jackie Chung) and best friend Taylor (Rain Spencer).

Han wrote a trilogy — The Summer I Turned Pretty, It’s Not Summer Without You and We’ll Always Have Summer — which appeared to indicate that the show would only last three seasons. Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon and MGM Studios, previously hinted at plans for the series to grow beyond the events in the books.
“I will say stay tuned, but Jenny’s got some exciting surprises. So we’re thrilled about a season 3, and she’s got a vision for more,” he told Deadline in September 2023. “This show is going to continue to be a huge centerpiece for us, and we absolutely have plans to continue building it. Jenny’s got great vision for where she wants to go with all of it, but we’re already hard at work developing complementary pieces.”
More recently, however, Sanders has shut down the idea of a possible TSITP spinoff.
“That was probably wishful thinking for me at the time, and Jenny has stayed really focused [on] getting these seasons right,” he shared with Deadline in July. “We’re pursuing new and different things with Jenny right now. She’s presented some other things that are related to this.”
Sanders noted that he hoped to continue to collaborate with Han, 44, in some capacity.
“So once the full season is launched, we’ll get into conversations, and we’ll ask her to pick from the many things that she’s surfaced,” he added. “But we’ve moved away from those conversations.”
Which Book Scenes Are in the 'Summer I Turned Pretty' Season 3 Trailer?
Han, meanwhile, didn’t rule out some kind of return to Cousins Beach, telling Entertainment Weekly in June, “Never say never. If the story is there, then I’m there. As a storyteller, you just get hit with inspiration all the time.”
Han acknowledged that she didn’t have a concrete idea just yet. “If I had a really great idea that I was excited by, that I wanted to keep telling the story, and if [the stars] were excited to do it, then I would be so pumped,” she continued. “It really depends on if I feel like there is more story to tell.”
She continued: “Amazon Prime has been very supportive of my vision, and I haven’t felt a pressure to keep it going just to keep it going. It’s all about doing what’s best for the story. And you obviously want to give the fans a really satisfying ending. I love working with all these guys, that’s at the core of it. I would always welcome working with them on this, or something else. Who knows what the future holds?
Tung, 22, also expressed her support for returning to Belly’s story down the road.
“I love working with this group of people and I love working with Jenny,” she shared with the outlet. “I think it’s such a privilege to be any part of her cinematic universe, so if I was ever asked, I’m there.”
The Summer I Turned Pretty airs on Prime Video Wednesdays.
