Tammy Hid Her Relationship With Andrea From Her Family

Tammy admitted that she didn’t want to tell her family about Andrea at first and kept the relationship a secret for a few months.

“I think I want to approach this relationship different than I have in the past, so I haven’t told my family because my family’s gonna have something to say about it,” she said on the show, adding that she was unsure of how her loved ones would “react” to the news that she was dating a woman.

However, Tammy later told older sisters Misty Wentworth and Amanda Halterman about Andrea, and they were fully supportive.

“It don’t matter to me,” Misty said when Tammy said she knew her family didn’t “prefer people” who are “gay.”

Meanwhile, Amanda said in a confessional, “I’m not sure why Tammy feels like we would have a problem with her dating a female. I have a son that’s gay. I don’t care as long as she treats you right. So for her to pop off and say, ‘Well I know y’all probably don’t agree with me dating a woman,’ I mean, I was completely taken aback by it, to be honest. It really surprised me.”

Amanda ultimately told Tammy, “If she makes you happy … that’s all we want for each other is just to be happy. That’s all. But I don’t want none of us to stop looking for it. Don’t just settle. Don’t stop until you find exactly what you’re looking for.”

Later, Tammy introduced Andrea to her mom, Darlene, who also said that she doesn’t “really care about women on women and men on men deals.”

“If Andrea genuinely cares for Tammy and makes her happy, then I’ll be happy with her,” Darlene added.
