Tim and Demi-Leigh Tebow Reveal Sweet Name They Gave Their 1st Child

Hours after teasing the name of their first child, Tim Tebow and Demi-Leigh Tebow are sharing the significance behind their newborn daughter’s moniker.

“We’ve been so excited to share this with you,” the proud parents wrote in a joint Instagram post. “Meet our daughter, Daphne Reign Tebow ”

According to Demi-Leigh, “Daphne is a name that’s been close to my heart since I was a little girl.” The former pageant queen explained that she “never got to meet my mom’s mother, but her sister, Daphne, stepped in as a grandma figure to me.”

Demi-Leigh said her great-aunt Daphne had become “so special to my mom and I,” describing her as “a tiny, kind and strong South African woman who always had shortbread in the house,” and noting that she “was the epitome of grit and grace, loved Jesus, had the voice of an angel and made everyone feel seen and special.”

“I used to tell my mom, ‘I want to be just like Ouma Daphne one day,’” Demi-Leigh, 30, continued writing alongside more photos of their daughter, born on Sunday, July 6.

“I’ve loved this name since I was a little girl and for as long as I can remember I always said that if I ever get blessed with a daughter, I’ll name her Daphne,” and thankfully, Tim, 37, was onboard, Demi-Leigh explained.

“Shortly after Tim and I got married, I shared that desire with him, and thankfully he loved the name just as much as I did!”

The couple also shared the significance of Daphne’s middle name, Reign.

“It’s a name that holds so much meaning,” the proud mom explained. “It’s inspired by a precious little girl Tim and I have loved deeply for years.”

Demi-Leigh explained that that little girl’s “story has shaped our hearts in ways I can’t even begin to explain. But more than anything, her name reminds us that when you’re adopted into God’s family, you become a child of the King. You were made to rule and reign—not in power, but in purpose, love, and identity.”

“So here she is — our daughter. Our answered prayer. Daphne Reign Tebow — created in the image of God,” Demi-Leigh concluded the social media post. “Royalty as His princess. Our biggest prayer over her is to reign in God’s purpose for her life.”

Thousands of commenters shared how much they love the name that was chosen for Daphne, including actress Candace Cameron Bure, who wrote, “Beautiful!”

Earlier on Monday, July 7, Demi-Leigh shared black and white photos of her family of three still in the hospital.

The new mom shared how “grateful” she was to her team of medical professionals who “assisted us in the best way possible during my labor and delivery.”

“Our daughter is here! We couldn’t be more grateful for the blessing and gift of this new little life,” she added.
