Travis Kelce’s dad, Ed Kelce, has no doubts that mastermind Taylor Swift’s 12th album, The Life of a Showgirl, will be great.
One day after Swift, 35, announced the new LP in a sneak peek at her first-ever appearance on boyfriend Travis and brother Jason Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast, Ed, 73, reacted to the big reveal in an interview with Australia’s Today.
“I knew nothing about this announcement,” Ed admitted during his Wednesday, August 13, appearance, which came hours before Swift’s full “New Heights” episode was set to drop. “I knew at some point the boys wanted to get her on the podcast, but I didn’t know when it was coming up.”
However, Ed said that he knew Swift had been busy since she wrapped her Eras Tour in December 2024.
How Jason Kelce Reacted to Taylor Swift’s 12th Album Reveal on Social Media
“I know Taylor’s been working pretty hard since she stopped the tour,” he explained. “She’s taken some breaks to watch some football games, but she’s been out in L.A. working on this album.”
Ed concluded, “My guess is that, although I haven’t heard anything, it’s going to be like everything else she does. It’s going to be beautiful.”
Swift announced her latest era by pulling a blurred-out vinyl from a mint green briefcase emblazoned with her initials in orange font.
“So, I wanted to show you something,” she told Travis, 35, and Jason, 37, in a “New Heights” preview on Tuesday, August 12. “This is my brand new album, The Life of a Showgirl.”

Swift will seemingly share more about the album during the podcast episode, which drops on Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET.
In addition to announcing the title on the podcast clip, Swift updated her website at 12:12 a.m. to replace the countdown that had been on the page for several hours with graphics indicating a vinyl, cassette and CD with poster. These graphics were all covered by a sparkling orange lock. Swift also changed her social media profile images to the same lock on a green background.
A release date for The Life of a Showgirl has not yet been announced, but all preorders will ship before October 13, according to the website.
Swift’s new album comes more than one year after she released her 11th album, The Tortured Poets Department, in April 2024. The album featured a few songs that are believed to be about Travis and his relationship with the pop star, including “The Alchemy” and “So High School.”
All of the Easter Eggs — And Fan Theories — About Taylor Swift's 12th Album
Travis and Swift began dating shortly after he attended her Eras Tour concert in Kansas City, Missouri, in July 2023. The pair went public with their romance in September 2023 when the “Cruel Summer” singer attended a Kansas City Chiefs game, and she’s supported Travis at several other games since then, including the 2024 and 2025 Super Bowls. Meanwhile, Travis attended multiple Eras Tour stops.
Travis recently gushed about his relationship with Swift in his cover story for GQ.
“Whenever I’m with her, it feels like we’re just regular people,” he told the outlet on Tuesday. “When there is not a camera on us, we’re just two people that are in love.”

Recalling the start of their romance, Travis said, “It happened very organically even though from a media standpoint it was being tracked. It still happened very organically. Nothing I’ve ever done has been a controlled, organized process. When I say it was so organic, we fell in love just based off the people we were sitting in a room together with.”
He continued, “We are two fun-loving people who have the morals to appreciate everyone for who they are. We share all those values. It kind of just took the f*** off. Nowadays, I just want to be respected and loved by the people that I’m surrounded by in my work. I want to leave it better than where it was when I started. And I see her having those same values.”
