Moriah Plath is the closest sister in age to Lydia Plath, so why wasn’t she the maid of honor when Lydia married Zac Wyse?

“Moriah probably would have been my maid of honor if she was here [in Georgia], but she was, you know, just going through a lot,” Lydia, 21, exclusively told Us Weekly on Monday, August 25.

Lydia noted that Moriah, 22, had just “moved to Montana in January, and so she came home, like, three days before the wedding.” As a result of her sister’s recent relocation, Lydia said, “I knew that she wouldn’t want the responsibility [or] that task at the moment.”

During season 7 of Welcome to Plathville, fans learned that Moriah was going through a breakup after briefly rekindling her romance with her controversial ex-boyfriend one season prior. While she was mending a broken heart at the start of the current season, Lydia was falling head over heels for Zac.

“If she would have been in a good place and still here, then she totally would have been my maid of honor,” Lydia told Us of Moriah, who left their dad’s house in Cairo, Georgia, about a month before she and Zac tied the knot on their family farm in February.

Moriah’s ups and downs have been part of the TLC series since its premiere, but this season she has somewhat distanced herself from the cameras.

She did, however, support Lydia when she went wedding dress shopping on the Tuesday, August 26, episode of the reality show — though she was more than an hour late.

“I don’t like wedding dresses, and I don’t like weddings, and I don’t like love,” Moriah told the cameras after arriving at the bridal salon. “But we’re not going to talk about that. I love Lydia, so I’m here.”

Moriah also served as a bridesmaid on Lydia’s special day alongside their younger sisters, Amber, 16, who was the maid of honor, Cassia, 14, and Mercy, 12.

Looking back at Moriah’s journey this season, Lydia told Us she’s glad she took a break from the constant filming and focused on finding her bliss.

“Moriah is doing really good. She’s not on this season too much, which was a really good thing for her, because … she’s put a lot out there,” Lydia explained. “She’s had a lot of just deep, deeper inside things that she has to heal from. [Things] that have come from [TV], but also that have just come from life. It was a good move for her to kind of step back for a season and not take the brunt of everything.”

Zac couldn’t agree more, telling Us in a joint interview on Monday that Moriah keeps them in the loop about her Montana life constantly.

“She loves the mountains in Montana. She sends pictures all the time,” he shared. “And we’re like, ‘OK, we’re on our way.’ So she’s doing great. We’ve talked with her a lot. She’s in a good place.”

When it comes to her wedding day, Lydia said it was also a success — even though it was the outcome of a whirlwind few months of planning. (Zac proposed to Lydia in December 2024, after just a few months of dating, and they got hitched two months later.)

“It was literally perfect,” Lydia told Us, “I know there’s going to be, like, drama from other people … but I didn’t notice or was a part of that on my wedding day. It was literally just the two of us enjoying the 100 people that were there to support us.”

Zac recalled the wedding weekend being “really filling” with “a lot of support” and “encouragement” from friends and family.

In fact, the couple was so happy with how the day went they don’t plan to rewatch the televised version, which will air later this season on Welcome to Plathville.

“We’re not going to be watching the wedding episode, because we have our wedding video, and we have our memories of the wedding,” Lydia explained. “We [don’t] need to see, you know, an edited version of other people’s perspective on our day, when we have ours.”

Welcome to Plathville airs on TLC Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET.
