After NASCAR driver Kyle Busch and his wife, Samantha Busch, welcomed son Brexton via IVF in 2015, the two endured a years-long struggle to have a second baby.
Samantha, 39, opened up about the ordeal, which began with what she called a “very sudden miscarriage,” and the toll it took on her marriage to Kyle, 40, in a candid conversation with Savannah Chrisley.
“We had a lot of marital struggles because we had never dealt with something so heavy and we didn’t understand how each other were grieving and we didn’t understand what each other needed in that time and place, so it was a struggle,” she explained on the Tuesday, July 22, episode of the “Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley” podcast. “So we worked on it. We worked really hard. We went to marriage counseling.”
Samantha said that, as a woman, it was difficult to get past blaming herself — even if she knew logically that the miscarriage was not her fault.

“I just had this immense guilt and I was so mad at myself for it,” she admitted. “Kyle, on the other hand, he was like, ‘You know, I’m not trying to sound cold, but it’s done. There’s nothing that you can do to change this outcome. We have to keep moving forward.’”
“And I wanted him to still be in the trenches with me and he was moving forward and I couldn’t move forward,” she continued. “So that caused a lot of animosity for us and it took us a while to just understand each other’s perspectives and where we were coming from.”

Unfortunately for the couple, who married on New Year’s Eve 2010, their fertility struggles did not stop there. After failing to conceive again via IVF, Kyle and Samantha turned to a gestational carrier. When it didn’t work out with several candidates, Samantha said a stranger slid into her DMs as a volunteer.
And when that situation didn’t work out either, they tried IVF again and Samantha was soon pregnant with twin girls.

“We went back two weeks later and both of them were gone,” Samantha said. “Unfortunately, my body thought I was still pregnant and wouldn’t miscarry, so my body was growing two empty sacs. I let that go for a bit until, unfortunately, I had to have a D&C two days before Mother’s Day.”
Samantha and Kyle went back to their carrier, hoping for one more attempt at having another baby.
“Lo and behold, God blessed us, and we have our daughter, Lennix, and she was born May 10, 2022, via our carrier, and she just turned 3 last month,” Samantha announced.
The two have since launched the Samantha and Kyle Busch Bundle of Joy Fund, which advocates for people going through IVF and provides grants to couples. Samantha said the foundation has helped welcome more than 100 babies.
